Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene welcome Council of Europe ambassadors to Palace
Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene have welcomed ambassadors and Permanent Representatives from the Council of Europe’s 46 member States to the Prince’s Palace.
The reception was held on Wednesday 2 September as part of Monaco’s Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe and the 1567th meeting of the Ministers’ Deputies taking place in the Principality.

The Princely Couple welcomed the European representatives in the Palace’s Cour d’Honneur, alongside Council of Europe Secretary General Alain Berset and Deputy Secretary General Tanja Gonggrijp.
Addressing the delegation, Prince Albert reaffirmed Monaco’s commitment to multilateralism, dialogue and the rule of law.
He also highlighted the role of the Council of Europe and its institutions in helping countries respond collectively to the challenges facing European societies at a time of international instability.
The gathering followed the Ministers’ Deputies meeting at Monaco’s Oceanographic Museum earlier in the day, bringing together representatives of all 46 member States as part of the resumption of the Council of Europe’s work following the summer break.
Monaco joined the Council of Europe in 2004 and is currently holding the Presidency of its Committee of Ministers for the first time.
The Principality’s six-month term began on 15 May and continues until 10 November 2026.
