Held under the initiative of the Prince Albert II Foundation, the event blends culture, science and storytelling to encourage new ways of thinking about ecological challenges, with daily “Happy Hours Engagés” sessions giving the floor to local projects and changemakers.
On Friday 10 April, Prince Albert II attended one of these sessions, highlighting several initiatives from Monaco and the surrounding region.
Among them were Les Petites Cantines de Beausoleil, environmental actions led by Monaco City Hall, the educational project “Écoletopie”, and ideas developed by the Young Ambassadors of the Jacques Rougerie Foundation.
The evening continued with a discussion between transition movement founder Rob Hopkins and architect-oceanographer Jacques Rougerie, exploring how cities and territories could evolve in the future.
More broadly, the festival programme combined conferences, exhibitions, wellness sessions and artistic moments, including a final evening on Saturday 11 April dedicated to sport and the environment, with athletes sharing their experiences, followed by a concert by singer Bobbie.
Free and open to all, the Green Shift Festival aims to inspire collective action by showing that solutions already exist, while encouraging new ideas for the world of tomorrow.
