In a message released by the Prince’s Palace, the Sovereign described the victory as an “outstanding” and “historic achievement”, saying he was particularly proud of the team for representing Monaco with talent and determination.
“Bravo & Daghe Munegu!” he concluded.
The victory marks another major step in Monaco’s rise through the competition.
Having competed in the fourth division just seven years ago, the Principality will now take its place at the highest level of the Davis Cup in 2027.
After Finland won the opening match, Valentin Vacherot brought Monaco level with a straight-sets victory over Eero Vasa.
Romain Arneodo and Hugo Nys then gave Monaco the advantage in Saturday’s doubles, coming from a set down to beat a Finnish pairing featuring world number one doubles player Harri Heliovaara.
Vacherot completed the historic victory by defeating Otto Virtanen 7-6, 4-6, 6-4, securing a 3-1 win for Monaco.
Captain Guillaume Couillard described the result as an “incredible relief”, with Monaco reaching the highest level of the competition for the first time since making its Davis Cup debut in 1929.
The Principality will play its first tie in the 2027 Davis Cup Qualifiers in February, with the draw expected in late November.
