The emotional moment, captured in a video from Jason Lee's Grocery Shopping with Rihanna, shows the fan approaching the singer and asking for a photo while apologising for her appearance.
"I look terrible. I live with cancer," the fan said, explaining that she wasn't wearing her wig.
Rihanna immediately reassured her, replying: "You don't look terrible."
After posing for a photo together, the singer noticed they shared the same first name, Robyn, before the fan showed her a picture of herself wearing the wig.
Rihanna responded by praising her natural look, saying, "You know what I live for? A good hairline, honey. This is what I like to see."
She then encouraged the fan not to apologise for her appearance, adding: "Anytime you meet anybody, don't do that. You're fire just like that."
When the fan asked if she could quote her, Rihanna replied: "Hell yeah! Verbatim."
The fan thanked the singer, telling her: "You make me feel good."
