The industrial action, involving employees of South East Assainissement, has been ongoing for several months but escalated on 29 May when workers began preventing refuse trucks from entering or leaving the facility.

As a result, waste collection services in around ten municipalities, including the area around Villeneuve-Loubet, have been brought to a near standstill, with bins overflowing in some locations.

Local authorities warn the situation is becoming increasingly critical as uncollected rubbish continues to accumulate.

The strike remained in place on Monday, with no immediate resolution announced.

Residents are being urged to remain patient while discussions continue between the company and employees.

Officials have not yet indicated when normal collection services are expected to resume.
