School performance - A study which measures the school performance of 15 year olds in 80 countries has shown that French students rank slightly above the world average. With an overall score of 493 points, French students are slightly above the average of 487 points in reading, mathematics and science. China came first followed by Estonia, Canada and Finland.

Every three years, the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) carries out study, Pisa, which compares the performance of 15-year-olds in 80 countries. The study shows French students slightly above the OECD average, in what is reportedly still a “highly unequal system”.
