The new song, titled Dai Dai, is a collaboration with Nigerian artist Burna Boy.
Shakira revealed the project on social media with a short preview filmed at the Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro.
The track, whose title translates roughly from Italian as “Come on, come on”, focuses on themes of resilience and courage.
The full release is scheduled for 14 May, ahead of the tournament taking place from 11 June to 19 July across Canada, United States and Mexico.
Shakira’s previous World Cup anthem, Waka Waka, remains one of the most successful football songs ever released, with billions of online views and streams since the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
