Light snowfall was reported across parts of the Alpes-Maritimes on the evening of Tuesday 6 January and into the night, with flakes seen in several communes around Nice.

Snow and sleet were observed in Levens, Carros and Vence, as well as on higher ground surrounding the city.
While the snowfall did not settle, it provided striking images and videos shared widely on social media.
The brief wintry episode came as much of France continues to experience severe winter weather, with heavy snow elsewhere disrupting transport links, including flights to and from Nice Côte d’Azur Airport.
