According to Météo-France, colder polar air is set to move across France from Wednesday, bringing a sudden change after unusually warm spring conditions earlier in the week.

Snow is expected above 1,400 metres, particularly in the resorts of Isola 2000 and Auron, where wintry conditions could return during the Ascension weekend.

Forecasters say temperatures in the Alpes-Maritimes will fall significantly over the coming days, marking a dramatic contrast to the mild weather currently affecting the region.

The unusual late-season snowfall comes as much of France prepares for a colder spell linked to what meteorologists describe as a “polar air mass” moving south across the country.
