Storm Nils: Yellow warning extended in Alpes-Maritimes

The Alpes-Maritimes remains under a yellow weather warning for strong winds on Thursday, with gusts up to 85 km/h and an increased avalanche risk in the mountains.

The Alpes-Maritimes will remain under a yellow weather warning for strong winds on Thursday 12 February, from 5am to 9pm, as Storm Nils continues to affect France.

Gusts of up to 85 km/h are expected in parts of the department.Météo-France has also warned of increasing avalanche risk, with large to very large avalanches possible in the mountains.

Elsewhere, Gironde, Lot-et-Garonne and Aude are under red warnings for flooding and violent winds.

Authorities are urging people to limit travel and take care.
