Survey – According to a survey published today nearly one in two French people (48%) believe that democracy will decline in the European Union in the coming years. The study showed that the French are mainly in favour of  the creation of a European Environment Agency, but also the creation of a European asylum office and a European border police. Contributions to the national debate show that the term "democratic crisis" often comes up, especially with the recent “yellow vest” movement. This figure is similar when the question is posed for the future of France, where 48% of French respondents believe that democracy will decline in France in the coming years. And when it comes to the future of democracy in the world in general, this sense of decline goes up to 56%.
