“The most famous French group to have gone unnoticed”- Referred to by their leader Christian Déchamps “Angel are the most famous French group to have gone unnoticed" and they’re celebrating their 50 anniversary.

The group known in France as “Ange” will begin their “jubilee” tour on January 31st in Paris. Described as a “clever mix of poetry and progressive rock” the oldest French group still in activity after their first concert in Belfort on January 31st in 1970 now see three generations attending their concerts which have never been publicized by mainstream media but have always sold out.

In the past referred to as the French Genesis they played alongside them at the Reading Festival in 1973 and were treated to a standing ovation in front of 30,000 people according to Déchamps “it was very impressive, however French journalists were at lunch and didn’t see it, which is why he refers to them as the most famous French group to have gone unnoticed”.  

With plans to make a new album in 2021 the band are very much up to date although some fans “would like them to stay in the past” according to Déchamps who ends by quoting Virginia Woolf: "Life is only a dream, it is the awakening that kills us."
