The 25-year-old, racing for Decathlon CMA-CGM, completed the 154km route from Villefranche-sur-Mer to Biot, making his move inside the final kilometre.
On the closing steep ramp, he powered clear of breakaway riders Lenny Martinez and Marco Brenner to take a solo victory. “I’m really happy — I had great legs,” Lapeira told Eurosport.
Lapeira finished ahead of defending champion Christian Scaroni, with Simon Carr completing the podium.
