Tsunami

Tsunami risk – Local media has reported that with 44 alerts in 7 years, authorities on the French Riviera are taking the risk of a tsunami seriously. Created by a violent underwater or coastal earthquake the warning signs are a rapid drop in sea level or its rapid withdrawal.  In the region the alert would be given by sirens but also by loudspeakers deployed in areas exposed to this type of risk. Meanwhile work is being carried out in Roquebrune on the beach of Saint Roman in an attempt to protect the coastline which each winter in hit by high waves. To limit the damage and following its request ,the SBM has obtained authorization from the French state to proceed with the construction of an underwater embankment, which would break the swell protecting the entire coastline.
