Playing on home soil, the Monegasque battled back from a set down to win 6–7, 6–3, 6–4 after nearly three hours on court, just a day after his impressive victory over world No.5 Lorenzo Musetti.
The match was full of momentum swings.
Vacherot started strongly, racing into a 4–0 lead in the opening set before Hurkacz fought back to take it in a tie-break.
But the 27-year-old stayed composed, raising his level in the second set before sealing a crucial break in the decider, lifted by the support of the home crowd.
With this result, Vacherot becomes the first Monegasque player to reach the quarter-finals of the tournament — a milestone he admitted he hadn’t even imagined.
Speaking after the match, he described the atmosphere as a key factor, saying the support from friends, family and local fans “gives you wings,” even in the most intense moments.
He will now face Australia’s Alex de Minaur for a place in the semi-finals, as his remarkable run in Monaco continues.
