The Var and Alpes-Maritimes remain under an orange heatwave alert, with temperatures reaching up to 36°C and possible afternoon thunderstorms.
The Var and Alpes-Maritimes will remain under an orange heatwave warning on Wednesday, as scorching temperatures continue across much of France.

Temperatures are expected to reach 36°C in the Var and 35°C in the Alpes-Maritimes, with most areas of both departments exceeding 30°C.
The mercury could hit 36°C in Saint-Zacharie, while Roquebillière and Saint-Martin-du-Var could reach 35°C.
Trigance will be cooler, at around 27°C.
Thunderstorms are also possible during the afternoon, with a yellow storm warning in place from 1pm to 6pm in the Alpes-Maritimes and 2pm to 6pm in the Var.
The heatwave is spreading across France, with 78 departments expected to be under orange heatwave warnings on Wednesday.
