Var remains on orange heatwave alert as temperatures reach 39°C
The Var remains on orange heatwave alert today, with temperatures reaching up to 39°C. A yellow thunderstorm warning is also in place inland, with cooler weather expected from Saturday.
The Var will remain on orange heatwave alert on Friday, August 14, with temperatures expected to reach 39°C in parts of the department.

Overnight temperatures will remain high, ranging from 18°C to 23°C inland and 23°C to 25°C along the coast. Daytime highs are forecast to reach 36°C to 39°C.Temperatures are expected to hit 34°C in Toulon, 35°C in Fréjus, 36°C in Hyères and Saint-Tropez, 37°C in Saint-Maximin and 38°C in Salernes and Barjols.
Brignoles could reach 39°C.The Var is also under a yellow thunderstorm alert, with storms expected in inland areas on Friday afternoon.Temperatures should begin to ease on Saturday, with highs falling by around 1°C to 3°C, followed by a further drop on Sunday.
Residents are advised to drink plenty of water, avoid strenuous activity and stay out of the heat during the hottest part of the day. People are also encouraged to keep homes cool by closing shutters and windows during the day and ventilating at night.
