Vaucluse region remains the 5th poorest department in mainland France - Latest figures from INSEE show that the Vaucluse region remains the 5th poorest department in mainland France. The region which includes the towns of  Avignon,Orange, Cavaillon and Carpentras shows that those under 30 years of age suffer the most, with more than one in four living below the poverty line.
