Operated by FS Treni Turistici Italiani, a subsidiary of Trenitalia, the service offers a scenic journey along the Mediterranean coast, passing through Nice, Monaco, Menton and Genoa before reaching the Italian capital.

More departures planned

Following strong demand — with more than 3,000 passengers and an occupancy rate of around 92% during the previous season — the operator plans to increase the service in 2026.

The train will run two to three times per week, compared with just one weekly departure last year.

The season will also be extended, operating from June through early autumn.

A journey with a vintage atmosphere

The Espresso Riviera is designed to recreate the charm of classic European express trains.

On board, travellers will find restored sleeping cars, couchettes, private cabins and a restaurant carriage, with wood-panelled interiors and uniformed staff.

Passengers can enjoy regional cuisine during the journey, before spending the night in their cabin and waking up to views of the Ligurian coastline.
