The actor couple, together for nearly nine years, quickly became one of the highlights of the evening as they arrived arm in arm at the Palais des Festivals for the screening of Arthur Harari’s thriller, which is competing in the official selection.
A glamorous appearance on the Croisette
In front of photographers and festival guests, the pair exchanged smiles, affectionate gestures and several kisses, creating one of the most talked-about moments of this year’s festival so far.
For the occasion, Virginie Efira wore an elegant black Saint Laurent gown with a daring slit, paired with dark sunglasses, while Niels Schneider opted for a sophisticated midnight blue Louis Vuitton suit.
The romantic appearance came just days after the couple had already been spotted together at several Cannes events, including a more relaxed outing at the Air France beach.
A busy Cannes for both stars
Both actors are heavily involved in this year’s festival lineup.
Niels Schneider is promoting three films during the 79th edition of Cannes, including L’Inconnue, alongside Léa Seydoux, as well as Si tu penses bien and La Bataille de Galles : l’âge de fer.
Virginie Efira, meanwhile, has also made multiple appearances on the Croisette this year thanks to her roles in Parallel Tales by Asghar Farhadi and Soudain by Japanese director Ryūsuke Hamaguchi, both presented in competition.
One of Cannes’ favourite couples
Efira and Schneider first met in 2017 while filming Un amour impossible and have kept much of their relationship private ever since.
In 2023, they welcomed their first child together, a son named Hiro.
The couple already created a memorable Cannes moment back in 2019 during the premiere of Sibyl, when Schneider famously helped Efira fix a shoe problem in the middle of the red carpet.
Several years later, they once again proved they remain one of the festival’s most elegant and beloved couples.
