VTC drivers go on strike causing traffic chaos in Marseille - It’s not just the trains which are on strike today Monday 8th January, but VTC drivers, (chauffeur driven transport) have also launched a “go-slow operation” in Marseille. The movement began this morning at 7am and has led to long traffic jams on Boulevard des Dames, towards the Prefecture and on the A7, from Plan de Campagne to the airport.

Drivers are calling for stricter regulations within the industry to limit the number of new drivers in the region and contesting the new calculation of their mileage rate. Unions say that VTC drivers plan to join forces in the south east, with action on a weekly basis, from the beginning of February in Marseille, Toulon and Nice.
