Yellow heatwave alert continues across the French Riviera and Var
The Alpes-Maritimes and Var remain under a yellow heatwave alert, with temperatures climbing to 36°C inland and the hot, dry conditions continuing to increase the risk of wildfires.
The Alpes-Maritimes and Var remain under a yellow heatwave alert on Wednesday 22 July, with high temperatures expected to persist across much of the region.

According to Météo-France, the alert is in place until at least midnight and could be extended into Thursday if the hot weather continues.
Overnight temperatures remained particularly high, especially along the French Riviera, where they stayed above 25°C in many coastal areas.
The hottest conditions are forecast inland, with temperatures reaching 36°C in Barjols and 35°C in Brignoles.
Along the coast, highs of 33°C are expected in Antibes, 32°C in Menton, Saint-Tropez and Fréjus, while Nice and Toulon should reach around 30°C.
Sunny skies will dominate throughout the day, with only a slight chance of isolated showers around Tende during the afternoon.
The persistent heat continues to create difficult conditions for firefighters in the Var, where crews are tackling several wildfires after a series of blazes broke out across the department in recent days.
