Tourism - The Regional Tourism Committee the CRT has announced that for the first time since 2002 the Côte d'Azur exceeded 10 million hotel overnight stays in 2019. The committee added that the Alpes-Maritimes and Monaco have been able to maintain "high tourist attendance in a difficult context", due to social movements.

Hotel nights were up 1.4% with the demand increasing sharply from Japan (+ 20%) and Russia (+ 9%). On the other hand, demands from the Middle East showed a net decline of -26% and 4 or 5 star hotels still record the best occupancy rate with 65% in 2019, a record since 2001.

The results for all accommodation combined showed that the Italians, followed by the British and Irish, then the Americans, constitute the top 3 visitors to the French Riviera.
